Yippe

Germany won. Simply loved the match between Germany versus Argentina. Funnily almost the entire crowd where we watched the match was supporting Germany and that helped.
This site TVU shows all matches on a broadband connection, live.

Why Tuesday Lunch Sucks

I really suffer on Tuesdays with regard to my lunch. What gets served is totally tasteless. In fact today they had a curious mixture of karela and paneer, with the karela cut in very broad strips. It looked more like a dish with some animal skin and punjabi masala. The biggest gripe I have is that at least a meal saver such as chicken or mutton isn't served on Tuesdays. Just because there are people who don't eat non-veg on Tuesdays doesn't mean that a very large number of people who can eat non-veg on Tuesdays or any other fucking day are denied their food.

Blue October

Just heard "A Quiet Mind" by Blue October. Lovely song especially the violin play.
Blue October is a indie-rock band. Another reason why I love listening to Internet radio, more specifically Pandora. Normally this band would never find play in India leave alone release CDs. But the Internet's changed everything for the better.

Liar's Poker

Two weeks back I purchased Liar's Poker. I was at the Oxford Book Store, and I called up the sister in Calcutta for recommendations. In a very sleepy voice she tells me to find something for myself. Nevertheless I ended up buying Liar's Poker and Ecstasy. I've finished reading Liar's Poker and I must say that its a really good book. Though the underlying theme is of finance, specifically bonds, yet the book should be required reading for just about anyone in the corporate world. It just goes to show how self-destructive, fiefs and office politics can be in a company.
My interest in finance has been generally high. This book has stoked the interest further. There were many terms that left me clueless but only served to increase my curiosity.
Up next would be reading Ecstasy.

Slipknot In India

The DJ at my favorite rock haunt gave me this little piece of news. Slipknot is coming to India in early 2007. So remember you heard it here first. And in case they do not, well that's mighty unfortunate and you have to pay top dollar for their shows elsewhere. But still this news sounds too good to be true. Wonder how the I&B ministry etc allowed it. Anyway its celebration time for us maggots.

Simple

At lunch today. Me and my colleagues are busy taking the case of a new guy, who's actually just a kid.
Me: So you said you have a dog at home. Right?
Kid: Right.
Colleague 1: So what breed is it?
Kid (Shyly): No breed as such, the dog is simple...
Colleague 2: So is he down to earth too?

Music's Back

My WorldSpace is up and running after a long pause, and it feels great to listen to any kind of music anytime of the day depending on my mood.
